what we are looking for...

The PANGAEA PROJECT was created to be a forum for avant garde, electronic and experimental artists, musicians, dancers, performance artists, et cetera.

What we are not looking for: Metal, Reggae-Rock, Folk, styles you may hear on commercial radio and music that has established scenes and are accepted by mainstream culture.

What we ARE looking for: Electronica, Noise, Free-Jazz, Neo-Minimalism, Experimental, Improvisation-based, Post-Punk, off-the-beaten-path and boundary-pushing forms of expression.

Saturday

This is my first try at what will become a regular-irregular event.

This is an open jam, not an open-mic. Everyone plays. Bring your own amp and some gear. Doesn't matter if it's a synth, a sax, drums, guitar, electronics, gadgets, toys, sheets of metal.... Just come play! This is also a good chance to come check out each other's setups and try new gear that you might otherwise not get the chance to.

I will be doing a (very) little conducting a-la Hal McGee's Action Sound Painting Orchestra which will mainly consist of volume cues (softer or louder) or I may signal people to drop out momentarily, jump in or solo. My only stipulation is that you bring everything you need. BRING YOUR OWN AMP!!! I won't be conducting much. I just want to make sure no one person drowns everyone else out, et cetera. Most of the time, I will simply be jamming too.

At some point, the jam will take a break for STOIC + JOE to do a set!!! It will be awesome!!!

Make sure to patronize Cafe Bohemia. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS! Buy something, even if it's just a bottle of water. Remember, places like Bohemia are locally owned and struggling to survive amongst all the big-giganto-corporate competitors. And those competitors don't let you play weird shows at their business. The gas station, starbucks or subway doesn't support you or what we do, so remember to support Bohemia!

Also, if you don't really perform or jam often, that's okay! It's noise! Come do it anyway! It will be fun!
